CONTEMPORARY
This style of dance is the new "modern" dance of our time. It incorporates ballet, modern, jazz and improvisation, uses a wide range of music genres and rhythms and is considered to be more of a concert type style of dance.
BALLET
This class is a technical class that will help the student develop a strong base and foundation for any dance genres and styles they come across. Ballet training and knowledge helps for all areas of dance. The students will learn basic positions, terminology which is based on french vocabulary, how to lengthen, strengthen and control their bodies appropriately. As the class levels increase, the students are introduced to more complex movements and positions. We strongly encourage both boys and girls to take these classes.
JAZZ
This class incorporates the foundation and fundamentals of ballet, but has a higher energy with more upbeat and dynamic music. The students learn different body positions and learn how to create lines with their bodies. They will work on isolating the body parts and memorizing patterns and sequences of steps by doing progressions across the floor as well as learning a combination of steps in the center of the room. We strongly encourage both boys and girls take these classes.
HIP HOP
This street style of dance is brought into the studio environment to give the student a sense of style and creativity about themselves. They will learn basic movements that can then be interpreted into more complex, fast-paced intricate movements and develop some freestyle/improvised abilities as well as being able to follow and repeat street style routines.
Musical theatre
This class focuses on developing your dancing/singing/acting skills in a variety of musical theatre performing styles... While engaging with material and participating in creative activity, our young performers will explore strength and vulnerability, honor identity, embrace self, and celebrate each other.
ACRO
Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Acro combines classic dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Each class will guide students in increasing flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration.
ATTIREMasks are required to be worn by all students and teachers during all In-Studio classes. Mask breaks will be given during each class.
Jazz: Students are required to wear form fitting clothing (i.e. leggings, jazz pants, fitted shorts, Leotards, tank tops, crop tops). No baggy clothes. Hair out of face. Jazz shoes or half-soles required. Ballet: Girls: leotard & tights, split sole ballet shoes, hair secured in bun. Boys: Black leggings, white t-shirt or tank, split sole black ballet shoes. Hip Hop: Street shoes & baggy clothes are OK. No jeans or booty shorts. Contemporary: Form fitted clothing. No baggy clothes. Half-soles, paws or bare-feet. Musical Theater: Comfortable form fitted clothing, similar to jazz requirements. Sneakers you can point your feet and move in or jazz shoes. Acro: Form fitted clothing. No baggy clothes. Hair pulled back. Bare-feet. |
ETIQUETTE Students who are over 10 minutes late will not be allowed in class. No credit will be given. Cell phones are not allowed during class time. Only water permitted in the studio rooms.
